Spread voice triads are not exactly like jelly–you don't spread them over things. On the contrary, they're more like hot sauce, as they are applied in a more "dashing" motion. Okay, now I'm getting hungry... but not for hot sauce jelly. Essentially, spread voice triads are chords, just with pieces missing. For example, if you play a root position minor 7 chord, and remove the 7th, you'll have a root position minor triad. Triads consist of three notes (as you know from Guitar Super System, right?) and spreading them across the neck instead of stacking them on top of each other is a great asset to any songwriter or improvising guitar player's arsenal.
