Using Home Riffs to Improvise

In this short example-based lesson, we’re going to go over what I like to call “home riffs” for you to have in your repertoire as you get started using the Major Scale Modes for improvisation over various chord progressions. In the videos accompanying this lesson, you’ll see the home riff played a few times. From there, you’ll see some improvisation blended in, and how I like to come back “home” to the home riff in order to tie melodic ideas together. Be sure to sign up for Guitar Super System so you can access and download these backing tracks for your own practice.
